The Sea, The Sea: Afternoon and Evening Light

Here are a couple of shots from the afternoon. I played a bit more with these photographs in Adobe Lightroom than I did with the earlier batch because they ended up a bit overexposed (equatorial midday sun!) and because I'm still learning the ropes and needed to experiment some. Let me know what you guys think, if you can!

Oh, and just one photo has not been messed with AT ALL, and is presented to you fresh off the camera. Can you guess which one?

A taster:

I called this one The Tree of Life because I was surprised that something so lush and green (with pretty little pink & white flowers, which you can't see here) could grow in such saline soil (In the evening- as the tide rises-it becomes submerged in the water.) Wondrous, eh?

More under the cut ---> )

Thanks for looking.

The Sea, The Sea: Morning Light

Hello, Flist. I've been meaning to get around to posting these pictures for ages. They were taken this past December, when I went back to Sri Lanka for Christmas, on a famous beach about an hour and a half from where I live. It was a perfect day, the sea was absolutely stunning, and me and my friend were practically the only people there. I think I'm still living off of the happiness I accumulated on that trip, hee! Anyway, I just wanted to share these with you guys and give you something to daydream about. (And I swear this is not about rubbing it in because it's cold and windy as hell where I am and I could do with a little bit of escape myself right now, lol).

Katrin- in the end, I hardly did anything but tweak the shadows a little. The colours were too precious to mess with! So here it is, nature in her full glory.

I give you...Sri Lanka-aaahhh )

And...

A Little Bit of Perspective

Ok, that totally made me smile at us Brits (Not that I'm a 'Brit' but I did make rather a big deal about trudging to university through the snow today!)

IT'S SNOW DAY!

Oh my god, I've never seen so much snow in my life! Apparently it's the biggest snowfall London has seen in EIGHTEEN years. It's been snowing since last evening and the park in front of us is covered in several inches. It's SOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!

Snow always makes me think of magic, because growing up in a country where summer reigns all year round, the castles and wintry landscapes in the fairytales and fantasy books I adored seemed utterly otherworldly and unimaginably beautiful to me. And whenever it snows now, I just get transported right into another world.

Pictures! )

On the downside, everything is affected by the snow...the buses, the trains, the banks. On any other day, I would have loved to stay in with a cup of hot chocolate and read a book, or go out and play in the snow till evening, but today happens to be a very busy day for me with deadlines that I simply can't miss. And so I'm going to having to trudge to the station and pray to God that the London Underground gets back up and going properly and doesn't leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere.

I hope all of you are keeping well!

Update: I made it back home! But I can no longer feel my toes, ears or nose! Dear lord, how do people in the north do this every winter?!

Grey's Anatomy Finale

So, it seems that the powers that be have made it their mission to torture my favourite characters this month: first: Jack Shephard, now Alex Karev. I don’t think my poor heart can take all of this…

Ahh, Tiff, I need you honey…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAUDIA!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAUDS!!! I'm sure this doesn't compare to seeing the man in the flesh, but since I can't arrange for him to jump out of your birthday cake all the way from here, you will have to make do with this pretty picture for now. :-P

I wish you every opportunity of Fox hunting in the future...may you do us all proud!

A Jate Fanfic

Revelations

Pairing: Jate (Jack/Kate)
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I don't own LOST or any of its characters. That honour belongs to JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof.
Spoilers: Upto the end of 2x19 S.O.S.
Summary: Jack and Kate in that S.O.S fire-side scene. This is an alternate version that shows what may have happened if Michael hadn't interrupted. More character than plot. Very Kate-centric. Oneshot. This is my first fanfic so I'm kind of wading in unfamiliar waters right now- therefore I would really appreciate it if you could please please read and review! Thanks heaps. :-)
Dedications: To all the Jaters at the Jater Couch on the Fuselage. You guys rock! Ok, maybe you'll never get to see this kind of conversation on the show, but you know your Jate-crazed, Lost-starved brains just might buy it at this depressing point of our very long hiatus... :-P Enjoy!
